Character Interview: Sarah Talmaiz from Sarah’s Spaceship Adventure

Today I am interviewing character Sarah Talmaiz from Stan Morris’ novel Sarah’s Spaceship Adventure.

SSA star circular blur with planet and textHello, can you tell us your name and a bit about yourself.

My name is Sarah Talmaiz. I am nineteen years old. I live in the Hoop, a humongous asteroid belt orbiting around the Saif star. I was born on Marl, the inhabited planet in our solar system. I’m a shipmate on a spaceship freighter that travels between Marl and Half Shell, our home, delivering rare ores to Marl, acquiring consumer goods, and selling them at various rocks (asteroids). My job is mostly about cargo. I use a giant two-story lift to pack huge bins on huge racks, and as we approach rocks I pull and sort goods that will be sold at the rock.

Where are you from and what is it like there?

Marl has two main continents and a number of small islands. The continents are fairly close together, separated by a narrow channel. There are twenty-five hours in a day and four-hundred days in a year. The Hoop has more rocks that anyone has counted. The belt lies between the gas giant, Junior, and Marl. Read more

Character Interview: Grape from Welcome to Sortilege Falls

Today I have the opportunity to interview Grape Merriweather from Libby Heily’s novel, Welcome to Sortilege Falls, which is due out this June.

SortilegeFalls-frnt copyHello, can you tell us your name and a bit about yourself.

Hi! My name’s Grape Merriweather. I’m a junior in high school. We used to live in Watts Landing in Virginia but we moved to Sortilege Falls, Missouri a few days ago. So far, so bad. About me…hmm…well, I want to be an actress for sure. I love acting. It isn’t just about being on stage and all the attention. I love becoming a character. It’s an amazing feeling. I love Lance Irving, he’s my favorite actor. I’ve seen every episode of his show, Stone Huntington, Teen PI. I guess private investigator would be my next choice of possible careers. OMG, and I talking too much? I know it, I’m sorry. Ugh. Embarrassing.

Where are you from and what is it like there?

I’m from Watts Landing, VA. It’s nothing special, I guess. It’s a town well south of DC. There’s an airforce base nearby and a cool mall and a lot of parks that my brother likes a lot. All my friends are there and my memories. It’s weird, leaving the place you grew up. I mean, yeah, I’d rather forget the time I tried to do a trick on the swing set at Oskabee Park and I fell and skinned my knees, but I’m going to miss walking past that park and laughing a little at the memory, you know? Watts Landing was home.

Now, I live in Sortilege Falls and nothing here feels quite right. There’s a guy who works with my mom who totally wants to be a vampire and the kid down the street has about a billion lawn ornaments and he tried to serenade me outside my house one night. Oh yeah, my math teacher looks like a witch and did I mention that there are a ton of professional models in this town? I swear, the models have mind control over all the students at my high school. It’s insanely creepy. So yeah, I miss Watts Landing. Read more

Character Interview: Avery Gray from Gifted

Today I’m interviewing Avery Gray, the main character from J.A. George’s novel, Gifted. I interviewed George recently on my blog (you can read that interview here).

giftedHello, tell us about yourself.

Alright. My name is Avery Gray, but everyone calls me Ava. I’m nineteen and currently studying International Business at university. I can read minds and see into the future, but not at will. It’s… a long story. 287 pages long in fact.

What do you admire most about the world?

Oh, that’s deep. I admire how big people can dream and how hard they will work to reach that dream. I admire determination, imagination and creativity above all.

What is your favourite food?

Pizza because dough, tomato sauce and cheese isn’t something you can go wrong with.

Do you have any hobbies?

I like to draw. I also like to eat.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Some of my friends would say sarcasm…why deny it? They’re probably right. Some of my friends would say loyalty. I like to place others before myself. That could eventually lead to my downfall, but hey, that’s the best way to fall. Read more

Bookstack-255x300Hello, can you tell us your name and a bit about yourself.

My name is Joshua David Sims but everyone calls me J.D. I am from a place called Fishing View, Kentucky down “tween the rivers” in Western Kentucky. I was born and raised their and I hope to spend the remainder of my life their. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen or have ever been to in my life. I grew up down on the Cumberland River with my parents and my younger sister and brother where we raised corn, tobacco, and cattle. I have the finest of families and am truly blessed to be so cared for and loved by them all. I can still remember just like it was yesterday all of the fun times I had with family and friends doing my very favorite thing in the whole world which is fishin. Fishing View has some of the finest fishin holes along the whole river. The huntin ain’t too bad neither. I returned home after the war ended and was blessed with the good fortune to be able to get my own place just upriver from where I was born, where I raise mules, cattle and corn. .My very favorite memory is on the evening of my 8th birthday when my daddy gave me my first gun.
